PURPOSE

The Delaware Principals’ Academy is an association which provides programs and activities for public school administrators to help them plan, improve and maintain quality educational opportunities for Delaware’s students.

Priorities established from identified needs shall ensure that major needs of building administrators are addressed so that each public school or division delivers the highest quality of programs and services to the students in Delaware.>

GOALS

  • To provide principals with practical and specific professional development, training and services to meet their identified needs.
  • To provide a vehicle for the exchange of ideas by establishing a networking system among Delaware principals and other administrators.
  • To develop a list of qualified individuals who are available to assist principals in areas of need and to respond to requests from administrators for various kinds of assistance.
  • To act as a clearinghouse and coordinator of professional growth opportunities offered to principals and administrators by the Department of Education, professional associations, organizations, consortia, school districts, institutions of higher learning and the business community.
  • To facilitate the participation of selected principals on state-level committees and boards.
  • To encourage principals to engage actively in their own personal and professional development.
  • To help bring to the public’s attention the importance of the School Principal as a leader in facilitating effective school practices.
